Anil Kapoor pokes fun at Ash

Gossip continues to trickle in, long after the green carpet at IIFA Awards 2009 has been rolled up.

Off late, things have not been very pleasant between the Bachchans and Anil Kapoor’s family.

Earlier, Anil was not too happy when Amitabh Bachcan slammed his “Slumdog Millionaire” on his blog. Then daughter Sonam was reportedly edged out of her Cannes red carpet appearance by Aishwarya, which left Sonam heartbroken.
At the IIFA Awards, Anil Kapoor was called on the stage to announce the winner of the Best Female Actor of the Decade. He opened the envelope and declared the winner, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but later called her as fantastic, fabulous, mind blowing, mind blasting... chaiwali.

Without showing any grudge on her face Ash instantly replied, “Fantastic, fabulous, mind blowing, mind blasting... chaiwala.”

The audience had a forced laughter on their face, but nonetheless, many felt that Anil Kapoor should not have addressed a lady the way he did.

Meanwhile, Sonam was recently heard calling Ash “aunty”. When quizzed about the same, she said Aishwarya is quite senior to her and has also been her dad’s co-star so obviously she would call her dad’s co-star aunty.

Sonam needs to answer one more question on this: Will she call Abhishek uncle because he is Ash aunty’s husband, even though he was her co-star in “Dilli 6”?

Anil Kapoor to star in American TV series 24

After starring in the multiple Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor will play an anti-terrorist cop in hit American TV action drama 24.

Contactmusic.com reports that Anil will play an Indian counter-terrorist cop who teams up with Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland in the eighth season of the long-running programme.

"Anil would play Jack Bauer's counterpart in India. It's not known yet whether Anil will appear in just one episode of whether he'll be a recurring character. Either way the producers are very excited about having him onboard," said a source from the production house.

Anil Kapoor to star in super-hit thriller 24!

Riding high on the success of Slumdog Millionaire’s stupendous run at the awards, Anil Kapoor is now all set to play a key role in the popular American TV show, 24 – if all goes according to plan.

Sources report that he was approached a few days after the Oscar awards night.

“The new season of 24 begins in May and Anil will be part of that season,” the source continues.

Anil’s camp, however, chose to play safe and a close friend of his told an Indian newspaper, “The modalities are being worked out. Anil is very kicked about this offer.”

I am a Slumdog Millionaire says Anil Kapoor. The actor high on the success of his film draws similarities from the film to his own life when he made it to films. Anil Kapoor who has been in the industry for nearly two decades now says that his life is much similar to the Slumdog in the movie. "I resided in a small house in Chembur and had to struggle and work hard to become a millionaire and stay in Juhu. The actor who has made it to the top despite his struggles advises the youth of the nation to be focussed. "All I can say at the moment is if one has to come up in life you have to be focussed and work hard. Don't get bogged down by jealousy." With the success of Slumdog we quiz the actor if he is open to many more international ventures "Why not if something interesting and good comes up I will definitely do it. Multinational companies reject Slumdog Millionaire

Mercedes-Benz and a multinational soft drinks company insisted on removing their logos from scenes in "Slumdog Millionaire" because they did not want to be associated with a Mumbai slum, the film's director says. The film, based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup's rags-to-riches novel, premiered Thursday night at the gala closing of the London Film Festival to critical acclaim and is predicted to be one of the biggest hits of the year. But director Danny Boyle told The Times newspaper that Mercedes-Benz and the drinks company believed their brands would be sullied if shown in a Mumbai slum - the film's setting. He said Mercedes-Benz pulled out of a chase scene that culminates with a slumlord in dark glasses emerging from a white saloon car. “The thing (you did not see) was the Mercedes logo on that car, ” Boyle said after the screening. “We had to take that off because Mercedes don't want to be associated with being in a slum. We wanted to use a Mercedes because… this guy, this gangster would drive a Mercedes... But if you use Mercedes then clearly you have to get permission, and we asked for their permission and they refused it, ” the director said. The paper said Friday Mercedes-Benz apparently gave permission for its logo to appear on the gangster's car when it was parked outside his mansion and on a car hired by wealthy American tourists. Boyle also spoke about having to disguise the logo of a global drinks company. “There is a scene where the kids are on a rubbish dump and they get offered these bottles of… popular fizzy drink. “Not only were we not allowed to use their name, basically we had to paint over the label on the bottle as well. “So we ended up paying tens of thousands of pounds painting out these symbols which are meant to unite the world, aren't they?” Boyle added.

Looks like once upon a time on-screen couple, Sri Devi and Anil Kapoor don't really share a warm relationship with each other off screen! This in spite of being devar and bhabi now! As we all know, Sri Devi is married to Anil Kapoor's brother Boney Kapoor. The duo was seen together in public after a long time at the felicitation function of Anil and Boney's father Surinder Kapoor where the entire Kapoor Khandaan was seen together. The reports are that at the function the brothers appeared sullen and not warm to each other. Same goes for Sri who seemed lost in her own world.
